OK OK, I’ll admit it. I hate shopping for my husband when it comes to holidays. Is it me, or are men beyond difficult to purchase gifts for? Seriously, how many Home Depot cards, socks, rounds of golf, ties, etc. can you get a guy? I have literally been buying my Dad these gifts for years, and sadly I just kept the tradition going with my Husband. Well, that is until recently when I decided to put an end to the madness. Enough is enough! I decided to really put some thought and meaning into his gifts because he deserves it. Now let’s be clear, he’s never said that he didn’t like what I gifted him in the past. Honestly, he’s not the type of person who would do that. I just know him, I know that I could do much better at giving him gifts that he will truly appreciate and actually use. So, this year for Valentines Day I decided to give him a Dozen Jack Roses.
My husband’s favorite cocktail is the classic Jack Rose. His favorite place to have them is at The Lawrence in Midtown Atlanta. He loves them so much, that he ask for them at every restaurant or bar that we go to. He does it so much that, I’ve even begun to do the same. However, we’ve discovered that not every place carries the main ingredient of Apple Jack Brandy by Lairds, nor have all bartenders heard of the cocktail. We have now grown accustomed to educating bartenders on the regular on how to make the cocktail, and we give major kudos to the bartenders that we talk to who already know of this drink and how to make it. Because of it’s difficulty to find and how my husband just thinks that they’re so awesome, I chose to make twelve Jack Rose Cocktails that are already measured and mixed, so all he has to do is just shake with ice and enjoy whenever his heart desires.
The Jack Rose recipe is very simple and only requires three ingredients, Apple Jack Brandy, fresh lemon juice, and grenadine. I combined all of the ingredients in 4oz amber glasses and labeled them with a cute tag that I found on Etsy.
