Did you know that 80% of the world’s almonds come from Northern California?
Don’t feel bad if you didn’t know–I had no clue either, until recently. Friend and California photographer, Yadish Ramos, suggested that we find the location of the famed Almond Orchards in Capay Valley to shoot my daughter Harper’s 2nd Birthday photos.
You know me, I’m always ready to make awesome childhood memories for my daughter. Harper has been in love with trees and exploring since infancy, so, what better way to mark her second birthday, than by taking photos in a sea of beautiful blooming trees that are rare to see in person because the flowers only bloom for a short period of time?
Often mistaken for Cherry Blossoms, Almond Trees typically bloom in mid February. However, we got lucky this year because they bloomed late due to recent droughts. We headed to the Valley and were awe-struck by its beauty.
If you are ever in Northern California in February/March, check to see if its blooming season for the Almond Orchards. I read that you have to stop what you’re doing and head to the orchards as soon as you find out they have bloomed. This is so true, because the trees in these photos were bare less than a week later.
I couldn’t be happier that we decided to make this last-minute trip. It definitely was a sight to see. Thank you Yadish Ramos Photography for taking these amazing photos and making this recommendation.
If you get a chance to make this trip as well, I guarantee that you will not regret it!
Happy Birthday Harper Lee. Remember that Mommy and Daddy will always love unconditionally and to dream your biggest dream, then sit back and watch God top it!
