I’ll be the first to say that I’m not the most organized person, and never really had a desire to be. Well, that was until our family grew from two to four. Life just gets hectic and forces you to consider organization in hope of sanity. As a newbie to decluttering and organizing, I knew that making this transition would consist of a lot of hours watching Marie Kondo’s new show Tidying Up. It would also consist of a ton of organizing hacks to make things simple for me. After trying a few hacks and growing to love them, I had to share with my friends at HLN’s Weekend Express.
It’s all about the fold!
People get t-shirts for everything nowadays. Whether it’s from a 5k, birthday party, organizational event, etc. If you’re anything like me, those t-shirt stacks in the drawer quickly turn into a mess when you’re trying to find a specific shirt. Well those days are at its end, if you decide to change to this folding method. It will change your life and you’ll never look at storing t-shirts the same.
At 1min 23 sec in the video above, you will see that by simply adding 3 extra folds to your t-shirts, you can store them in a way that will make the graphic more visible. It also, allows you to get a jumpstart on tidying your drawers.
Kitchen Drawer Organization
I recently took the time to declutter and organize my utensil drawers. I got so frustrated when I would be in the middle of cooking, reach for a specific utensil, and it’s not there. And of course no one in the house ever seems to know where it is. I realized that we just had too many cooking utensils and they needed to be sorted and put into a special place. So, I invested in drawer organizers.
I purchased these bamboo organizers from The Container Store. I love all things bamboo, so that’s why I went with them. However, there are less expensive options that are offered in different material and sizes.
Is that velvet?
Yes, that’s velvet in the photo and it’s a fact that you don’t want to forget. Hanging your sunglasses on a wire or plastic hanger enables your sunglasses to slide. Simply place your sunglasses on a velvet hanger so they don’t move. Place the hanger in your closet or hall tree, and grab a pair on your way out the door. Done!
Thank you!
